‘Piglet as Barbie?’: Body-shaming trolls attack Amy Schumer over potential live action doll role
The disgusting underbelly of the internet came out in full force on Friday evening when it was released that comedian Amy Schumer was being considered for the live-action version of a Barbie movie.
Deadline reports that Schumer will rewrite the script with her sister to be a more empowering film that can inspire girls.
Schumer will go “on an adventure in the real world and by the time she returns to Barbieland to save it, she has gained the realization that perfection comes on the inside, not the outside, and that the key to happiness is belief in one self, free of trying to adhere to some unattainable standard of perfection.”
Male internet trolls took the news of the empowering message as a cue to body-shame the actress.
Amy Schumer as Barbie is only slightly less ridiculous than Dan Savage as an advice columnist.

Not surprisingly, women came out against the fat-shaming and slut-shaming:
I'm not a huge fan of Amy Schumer and I hated her in Beyoncé parody, but making fun of her cuz she's not a size 0? No.
