As noted by the Washington Post, the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., appeared to have confirmed fired FBI Director James Comey’s claim that President Donald Trump demanded he drop the Russia collusion probe in a recent interview.

Last Thursday, Comey claimed in his congressional testimony that the president said he “hoped” the now-fired FBI director should drop the investigation into former national security adviser Mike Flynn, who has been accused of inappropriate contact with Russia. Trump denied the claims, but his son’s interview suggests otherwise.

“When he tells you to do something, guess what? There’s no ambiguity in it, there’s no, ‘Hey, I’m hoping,'” Trump said in an interview with Fox News. “You and I are friends: ‘Hey, I hope this happens, but you’ve got to do your job.’ That’s what he told Comey. And for this guy as a politician to then go back and write a memo: ‘Oh, I felt threatened.’ He felt so threatened — but he didn’t do anything.”

Trump Jr. also asserted that he believes his father was “vindicated” by Comey’s testimony, and that he believes the former FBI director is a liar.

The interview, Post reporter Jenna Johnson noted, was conducted by former judge-turned-Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, who is a longtime friend to the Trump family who attended a baby shower for Trump Jr.’s sister-in-law Lara Trump later that day.
