President Donald Trump on Tuesday wished former FBI director James Comey "good luck" ahead of his testimony before Congress.

After making a short statement at the White House, a reporter asked Trump if he had a message for Comey.

"I wish him luck," Trump replied.

Trump had reportedly asked Comey to back off his investigation of former national security advisor Mike Flynn. Comey is expected to discuss that and other topics at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Thursday.

The president also commented on his son-in-law and top adviser Jared Kushner.

"Jared has actually become much more famous than me — I'm a little upset at that," Trump said.
