‘AG No Way’: GOP Sen Chuck Grassley issues subtle warning to Trump not to fire Sessions
Attorney General Jeff Sessions and President Donald Trump.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) subtweeted Donald Trump on Wednesday after the Washington Post reported the president is considering a recess appointment of a new attorney general.

“Everybody in D.C. should be warned that the agenda for the Judiciary Committee is set for rest of 2017,” Grassley wrote. “Judges first, sub-cabinet 2nd, AG—no way.”

Grassley’s statement comes as Trump continues to escalate his feud with Sessions. The president is furious with his attorney general after Sessions opted to rescue himself from any investigation involving Russia’s influence in the 2016 presidential election. Trump has publicly stated he felt the move was unfair to the president, and has reportedly declined to meet face to face with Sessions.

Reports indicate Trump does not want to fire Sessions for fear of blowback from lawmakers and is instead engaging in a public humiliation campaign with the goal of pushing the attorney general out.
