President Donald Trump’s announcement Sunday morning that he wants to form an “impenetrable Cyber Security unit” with Russian strongman Vladimir Putin was mercilessly mocked on Twitter with commenters suggesting he could also partner up with Charles Manson and drug kingpin El Chapo.
While US intelligence agencies have maintained that Russia was deeply involved in meddling in the 2016 election — at the behest of Putin — Trump has seemingly sided with the Russian president who denied any involvement, leading Trump to propose a partnership.
“Putin & I discussed forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, & many other negative things, will be guarded and safe,” Trump tweeted Sunday morning.
Twitter users found that tweet both alarming and eminently mockable, with one writing, “Kind of like teaming up with El Chapo for an anti-drug unit.”
