Texas cop who killed fleeing 15-year-old black teen just got indicted for murder
Fired Balch Springs police officer Roy Oliver.

A Dallas County grand jury this week indicted a fired Balch Springs police officer for murder over his fatal shooting of a black teenager this past spring.

The Dallas Morning News reports that former Balch Springs officer Roy Oliver faces a murder charge for killing 15-year-old Jordan Edwards this past April 29 when he fired his gun at a car full of teenagers who were leaving a party.

"Police Chief Jonathan Haber originally said the black Chevrolet Impala was aggressively backing up toward Oliver and Officer Tyler Gross," the Morning News notes. "Then, he corrected the information and said the car was driving away at the time Oliver fired. Jordan, who sat in the front passenger seat, was struck in the head."

In addition to being indicted for Edwards' murder, Oliver also faces four counts of aggravated assault -- one for each teenager who was riding in the car.

Oliver, who first joined the Balch Springs police in 2011, was fired shortly after the fatal shooting this past April.
