Trump booster who frequently appeared on Fox Business failed to disclose payments from president’s reelection campaign
A prominent Donald Trump booster who’s repped the president in numerous appearances on Fox Business Network is also a paid consultant of Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, the Washington Post reports.
Mark Serrano, a fierce defender of the president’s agenda, is described as a “Republican strategist” on Fox Business chyron. But he also received $30,000 from Trump’s reelection campaign for “communications consulting,” federal disclosure forms reveal.
According to the Post, the network failed to disclose Serrano’s connections to the campaign, a deviation from Fox Business’ standard operating procedure. A person familiar with the network told the Post Seranno will not appear on Fox programs “for the foreseeable future”
“It is the policy of the network to disclose all ties our guests have to any subject matter, and in the case of Mark Serrano, as soon as we were made aware of his new title last month, we made sure to disclose his role during his on-air appearances,” Fox Business said in a statement.
Serrano has a history of promoting the president’s agenda on-air. He’s called the investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign “fake news” and a product of the “deep state” working against the administration. In one segment, he called Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, the most “powerful or influential advocate for women’s empowerment ever in our history.”
