WATCH: Al Franken laughs at Scaramucci’s ‘bizarre’ use of Trump as a source that Russians didn’t hack election

Appearing on CNN Sunday morning, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) laughed about an extremely contentious interview host Jake Tapper had with new White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci who attempted to use President Donald Trump as an anonymous source.

Host Tapper immediately shared a clip of the almost 30 minute long interview with Scaramucci, where the new Trump hire stated, “Somebody said to me yesterday, I won’t tell who you, that if the Russians actually hacked this situation and spilled out those e-mails, you would have never seen it.”

Pressed by Tapper over who his source was, Scaramucci admitted it was Trump calling him from Air Force One.

“I thought when he brought it up, I thought it was a disinterested intelligence expert,” a laughing Franken said.

“What can you say? It’s just bizarre,” Franken continued. “I mean, it’s clear that we’re seeing now that members of his campaign met with Russians even though they were testifying before the judiciary committee answering a question from oh, say me.”

“You mean [Attorney General] Sessions?” Tapper added.

“Yes, saying that he had not met with Russians during the campaign,” Franken replied. “Now it turns out, it sounds like that Kislyak said they met in April which is a meeting that we — that he hasn’t said that he had, and in which they talked about subjects regarding the campaign and about Russia, and about sanctions.”

“Do you want Sessions to come back to the Senate Judiciary?” Tapper pressed.

“Absolutely,” Franken replied. “I think the Chairman Grassley does want him to come back.”

Franken was later stunned when told that Donald Trump Jr.’s testimony later this week would not be under oath.

“No. That’s not good enough,” the surprised Franken remarked. “They should be under oath and I did not know it would be not under oath.”

Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera attacks former White House press secretary on Twitter as ‘old douche’

Published

In a bizarre moment, Sunday evening politics turned into a war of wards in President Donald Trump's Twitter comments.

Fox News commentator Geraldo Rivera responded to former press secretary Joe Lockhart, who had replied to one of the tweets Trump retweeted from Rivera.

"Gloom settling on Democrats as they realize they’ve taken their best kill shot & missed. Dems in despair. Republicans United. @realDonaldTrump survives & #Impeachment all over but the shouting," said Rivera, hopefully not literally saying that Democrats wanted to shoot or kill the president.

Lockhart responded to the comment by mocking the Fox News host, saying that he was only making the comment to help get his contract renewed.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) is one of the handful of members of Congress who have served as managers for President Donald Trump's impeachment trial. He has not only navigated the past week of the trial, but he conducted the first major hearing.

After the New York Times revealed key facts from former national security adviser John Bolton's upcoming book, Schiff said that it was clear the information Bolton has is why Trump blocked him from testifying.

“I think you have to for the sake of the office,” Trump told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham when she asked if he would block Bolton.
