‘If I had any respect for her it would have been hurtful’: Woman insulted by Mnuchin wife fires back on CNN
The woman who was on the receiving end of Treasury Secretary Seth Mnuchin’s wife’s condescending remarks got in a few shots back at the former actress Tuesday afternoon.
Appearing with host Pamela Brown on CNN, Jennifer Miller said that she was surprised by the response from Louise Linton, who replied on Instagram to Miller after being criticized for flaunting her wealth.
“Did you think this was a personal trip?! Adorable!” Linton wrote to Miller. “Do you think the US govt [sic] paid for our honeymoon or personal travel?! Lololol. Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband? Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice to your country I’m pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day ‘trip’ than you did.”
According to Miller, she was a “little bit amused and a little bit horrified” by Linton’s response, adding that she doesn’t spend all day on social media conversing with strangers.
Noting that Linton called her “adorably out-of-touch,” Miller laughed and remarked, “Isn’t that ironic?”
“Yeah. I find that to be probably the most out-of-touch statement of her whole response because I certainly am not the type of person who would try to display my wealth or brag about it in any way,” Miller explained.
“It was deplorable, what she wrote in the first place, and then her response was even worse because if anyone’s out of touch, it’s certainly the person using taxpayer money to go on day trips to visit Fort Knox,” Miller continued before adding, “If I had any respect for her it would have been hurtful.”
