‘It’s a crazy false equivalency!’: Maher rips own panel for saying other GOPers are better than ‘poop-tweeting’ Trump
During an Overtime discussion on HBO’s Real Time, host Bill Maher grew heated with his current panelists and previous guests for cherry picking the best elements of President Donald Trump’s Republican colleagues in attempts to make them seem better than the president.
Guest Matt Welch suggested that Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) would likely challenge Trump in 2020, saying he has a “very Lindsey Graham-ish record when it comes to just constantly favoring interventions around the world.”
That was when Maher jumped in.
“You know, this crazy false equivalency that I hear on the panel every f*cking week,” Maher began, “From people who pick apart little things. You know I don’t like any of these guys either.”
“I don’t like Kasich, I didn’t like Bush. I didn’t like Mitt Romney, or all these f*cking people ” he exclaimed. “It’s not the same as this demented man-child in full make-up who could blow up the world, and poop-tweets at 3AM.”
Democratic consultant Paul Begala later chimed in to say that those same Republicans who are supposedly better than Trump are enabling him, adding they “have all put their spines in a blind trust.”
