CNN host Don Lemon lost patience with a Trump supporter Tuesday night who kept making up facts about Dreamers as he filibustered in support of President Donald Trump's decision to shut down the DACA program.
Coming back from a commercial break, after a manic exchange over race, Lemon pressed talk show host John Fredericks over his contention that "everything always has to be a about race."
"We cover a lot on this show, but these issues happen to effect people of color: DACA, the white supremacists in Charlottesville, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and [Sheriff] Joe Clark and on and on," Lemon stated. "Everything doesn't have to be about race, but the question is: why can't it be about race? What is the big issue if it is about race? What's wrong with that?"
"Because there are millions and millions of people trying to figure out how to get through the weekend, they're taking their children to soccer--" Fredericks blustered before Lemon cut him off, saying, "So are the 800,000 people affected by DACA."
"There are a lot of people trying to figure this out and what this whole case is," the Trump booster offered.
"So are those people more important --" Lemon asked as Fredericks talked over him, saying: "Let me finish."
That was when the CNN host had enough with Fredericks cutting in on him and the other panelists with unsubstantiated claims about the Dreamers and the DACA program.
"I know people think I cut you off, but the reason I do that is because when you give a statement that is not a fact on this show, I have to stop it," Lemon lectured the talk show host. "I have to nip it in the bud because then people will believe you're telling the truth. And you'll spout off three or four other things that are not the truth and it will just get lost."
What followed was more ranting by Fredericks who battled with CNN regular Van Jones and former Obama adviser Patti Solis Doyle as Lemon continued to attempt to corral the radio host and the panelists rolled their eyes at his interruptions.
