Former CIA officer and CNN commentator Phil Mudd was furious with acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke for what he called an absolutely fraudulent report on Puerto Rico.
"Time out. She's a fraud," Mudd said simply. "She's a fraud. Let's be clear here. If you go into a senior government position, she doesn't get a pass."
He went on to say that the US has dealt with many difficult things that they did improperly and implied that he would hope they would have learned from them.
"We did 9/11. Anybody looking at that says we could have done better afterwards," Mudd continued. "We did Katrina. You say in major situations including emergencies, we could have done better. In Iraq, clearly you might say we should not have declared victory that quickly. We could have done better."
Mudd said that he would like to have seen someone in such a senior position do a lot better than spin talking points.
"So, here's someone not at an entry level position, a senior position, who goes out the day after and says, 'Sorry, maybe I got a few words wrong.' She should have known better from day one," Mudd blasted. "In this situation, you step back and say we need to serve the American people, and we need to do better every day. That's it."
