Comedy Central’s South Park premieres Wednesday with its sights set on the white nationalist movement that fueled a violent rally in Charlottesville, Virginia last month.
“Protestors armed with tiki torches and Confederate flags take to the streets of South Park,” a description of the Season 21 teaser reads. “Randy comes to grips with what it means to be white in today’s society.”
“Tiki torches” were used during the neo-Nazi rally, where hundreds of white supremacists descended on Charlottesville to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate leader Robert E. Lee.
The trailer comes after South Park’s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone hinted the upcoming season will focus less on Donald Trump and more on “the kids” who’ve captivated audiences for over two dozen seasons. Still, it appears the show refuses to back down from the satirical social commentary that’s come to define “South Park.”
