Reflecting on Donald Trump's speech in Waco over the weekend, conservative Charlie Sykes told a "Morning Joe" panel that the former president isn't hiding the fact that he wants his fans to take the street and create more violence as his legal problems accelerate.
With a Manhattan grand jury reportedly reconvening on Monday to consider issuing a bill of indictment against the ex-president, Trump ramped up the rhetoric before the Waco crowd.
Speaking to co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, Sykes claimed Trump is doing nothing less than "upping the ante" and that violence will follow.
"You know, I was watching some of the videos over the weekend -- bear with me for a second -- it is almost as if Donald Trump is concerned he has been too subtle in making the various threats about death and destruction and retribution," Sykes began. "He is upping the ante."

"In case you hadn't gotten his message with the baseball bat with the prosecutors, his threats against other people investigating him, he holds this rally and chooses Waco as the venue," he added. "Then, you know, he has that weird, what you're showing there, that weird, you know, the ceremonial embrace of the January 6th insurrectionists if there was any doubt in anyone's mind what he was saying, the kinds of threats of violence, the apocalyptic future."

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (R) on Saturday weighed in on the burgeoning spat between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and ex-President Donald Trump, who were at one point close allies.
Appearing on Newsmax, Huckabee – himself a failed presidential candidate – claimed that he hears chatter such as "gee, I wish he wouldn't say anything about DeSantis. Leave it alone.' And, and I understand all of that. But tonight he explained why," referring to Trump's remarks at his rally in Waco, Texas. "And it was all back, uh, really about loyalty. Uh, Ron DeSantis wouldn't have been governor of Florida without Donald Trump's intervention. Yeah, and I think Donald Trump, like a lot of us, think that somehow loyalty matters in politics. I think it does. I think there are two virtues: loyalty and confidentiality. Be loyal to the people who helped you and learn how to keep your mouth shut if you have information that, uh, could be hurtful to someone. Be confidential if you're truly close to someone."
Given that Huckabee is also an ordained Baptist minister, social media users noted that his opinion seemed incompatible with liturgical teachings and better aligned with behaviors associated with society's clandestine underbelly.

Kanye West said he was renouncing anti-Semitism in a new Instagram post Saturday in which he wrote that watching actor Jonah Hill in the film "21 Jump Street" made him "like Jewish people again."
The rapper -- known formally as Ye -- has shocked and alarmed former supporters in recent months with a series of threats against Jewish people that drove sportswear giant Adidas and other fashion houses to dump him, and saw him locked out of most social media platforms.
His latest Instagram post Saturday appeared to be an attempt to reverse his earlier declarations of "love" for Nazis and admiration for Adolf Hitler.
"Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump street made me like Jewish people again," he wrote.
"No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people," he continued.
"No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew Thank you Jonah Hill I love you."
Some social media users appeared to greet the declaration with humor, but many were not buying it.
"Doesn't work that way Kanye. Damage is already done. The seeds of hate you planted already sprouted," one wrote on Twitter.
The rapper, who has spoken openly about his struggles with mental illness, has seen his business relationships crumble in recent months as his erratic behavior and extreme speech continue to raise concerns.
Last year he was also briefly banned from Instagram for violating the social network's harassment policy amid his acrimonious divorce from reality star Kim Kardashian.
Adidas said earlier this month that it was still weighing what to do with its huge inventory of West's Yeezy products after it ended their partnership last October.
Potentially not selling the apparel and shoes linked to West would lead to a revenue loss of 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion), the group said, announcing its 2022 full-year results.
