President Donald Trump accepted thanks from UCLA basketball players he helped get released from China on shoplifting charges.

The president complained Wednesday morning that the players -- LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley -- had not yet thanked him for asking Chinese President Xi Jinping to release them, which they did a few hours later.

Trump offered best wishes to the players, who have been suspended indefinitely by their coach, in a pair of Thursday morning tweets.

"To the three UCLA basketball players I say: You're welcome, go out and give a big Thank You to President Xi Jinping of China who made your release possible and, HAVE A GREAT LIFE!" the president tweeted. "Be careful, there are many pitfalls on the long and winding road of life!"
