'No news here': Jeff Flake says hot mic comment that GOP is 'toast' isn't new information
Sen. Jeff Flake condemns President Donald Trump on the Senate floor (Screen cap).

Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake said on Saturday that his comment that the Republican Party is "toast" if they continue to align themselves with Roy Moore and President Donald Trump is the same thing that he's been saying for months, so the fact that it was broadcast over a hot microphone shouldn't surprise anyone.

The Hill said that Flake posted a message to Twitter regarding the stray comment.

Flake was caught on tape by Arizona's KNXV-TV on Friday night, saying, "If we become the party of Roy Moore and Donald Trump, we are toast."

Flake broke ranks with the Republican Party by decrying Pres. Trump and saying that the former reality TV game show host poses a threat to U.S. democracy.

Flake -- like Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) -- announced that he will not be seeking re-election at the end of his current term out of disillusionment with the Trump administration and the current state of the GOP.
