The United States Senate passed a procedural hurdle Wednesday by voting to begin debate on President Donald Trump's tax reform bill.
By a vote of 52 to 48, the Senate advanced the bill to the floor for debate.
President Trump campaigned for the bill in Missouri on Wednesday.
Following this procedural vote, debate on the bill will be limited to 20 hours. Following debate, there will be a long period of amendment votes.
The bill may not be finalized and would still need to be reconciled with a different bill that passed the House of Representatives on November 16.
