A Boston-based security firm is angering some of its workers by forcing them to work in a warehouse where the walls are covered with pro-Trump propaganda and alt-right memes.
Dig Boston reports that home security firm SimpliSafe’s warehouse in Charlestown is lined with Trump flags, bumper stickers and posters. Additionally, the warehouse’s walls feature posters of right-wing memes, including appropriated alt-right icon Pepe the Frog and a photo of Bernie Sanders with the word “CUCK” written over it.
Even though some workers have complained about the warehouse’s signs creating a hostile work environment, they say the company has so far ignored their concerns.
“It was an unbelievably toxic environment,” former SimpliSafe employee Drew Purvis tells Dig Boston. “The memes and other things posted around the office were intended specifically to get a rise out of people who didn’t share those views, and it worked really well on me.”
Purvis and another former employee, Andrew Jeromski, tell Dig Boston that two managers at the Charleston warehouse were primarily responsible for plastering pro-Trump propaganda on the walls.
Purvis described the two managers as “openly racist and extremely hostile to anyone who didn’t share their views.”
“He just wanted to make people very angry,” Jeromski said of one of the managers.
