Ari Fleischer served as George W. Bush's press secretary during the first portion of his term in the White House. But the devout Republican is diverging from his party to defend Sen. Al Franken (D-MN).
"Franken should not have resigned," Fleischer tweeted Thursday, following Franken's press conference. "His fate should have been left [to] the people of MN. Moore, who had sexual contact [with] a 14-yr old, should drop out. Conyers, who hit on his employees, should have resigned. Franken is a creep who acted inappropriatly (sic), but his facts are different."

Franken announced Thursday that he would be resigning in the coming weeks, but not before taking a swipe at Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused by multiple women of preying or molesting them when they were teens. Trump has been accused of sexual assault by over a dozen women and even more when it comes to sexual harassment. Franken has also said that he doesn't remember the incidents the way women do but as an advocate for women he felt it was important that women be believed.
