Police in Nebraska seized approximately 60 lbs of marijuana Christmas presents from an elderly couple traveling from California to Vermont for the holidays, the York News-Times reports.

Patrick Jiron, 80, was arrested on marijuana charges and booked into the York County Jail. He was released on $100,000 bond.

His wife, Barbara Jiron, 70, was cited but not jailed due to medical issues.

The York County Sheriff’s Department claims the Jirons' Toyota Tacoma went over the center line and failed to signal while traveling on Interstate 80.

Lt. Paul Vrbka said the elderly couple told deputies “they didn’t know it was illegal to transport marijuana in Nebraska.”

“They said the marijuana was for Christmas presents,” Lt. Vrbka noted.
