Trusted Donald Trump aide and current White House communications director Hope Hicks is expected to testify before the House Intelligence Committee as early as Friday, CNN is reporting based on multiple sources.

One area of expected questioning is Donald Trump Jr.'s misleading statements about a Trump campaign meeting with Russian operatives.

In December, Trump Jr. told the same committee that he communicated via Hicks in drafting the statement. Hicks was aboard Air Force One with President Trump when the statement was drafted.

Special counsel Robert Mueller has also sought the phone records related to the Air Force One meeting on Trump Jr.'s statement.

Ousted chief strategist Steve Bannon and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski are both expected to testify this week. Lewandowski is alleged to have had an "on and off again" romantic relationship with Hicks during the 2016 campaign.
