Police in Florida responded to a false report of a shooting at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, according to WSVN.

Police searched the school after a teacher reported hearing gunshots. A police spokeswoman told CNN it was a false alarm.

"In an abundance of caution, police are going room to room conducting a search," WSVN reported.

North Broward Preparatory School is about 10 miles away from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, where a gunman opened fire on students and teachers Wednesday afternoon.
