Challenger Marie Newman and Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL)
Conservative Chicago Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL) held a narrow lead after a well-funded primary challenge from progressive challenger Marie Newman.
With 95 percent of precincts recorded, Lipinski currently leads Newman by a mere 1,600 votes.
Newman was endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the National Organization for Women Political Action Committee (NOW-PAC), Our Revolution, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, EMILY's List, SEIU, J Street PAC, National Nurses United, NARAL Pro-Choice America, MoveOn, Democracy for America, Progressive Change Campaign Committee, the National Women's Political Caucus and Illinois Democrats Jan Schakowsky and Luis Gutiérrez.
