Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) has died at age 88, the Democrat and Chronicle reports.

Slaughter, who served the Rochester, New York area, was hospitalized with a concussion after she sustained a head injury during a fall at her home last week.

As the Democrat and Chronicle notes, she was the oldest member of the House of Representatives, having first been elected in 1986. She was planning on running for her 17th term.

As recently as Wednesday, Slaughter was reported to be in stable condition at George Washington University Hospital.
