Alabama GOP commission candidate Jim Bonner's appeal to have his votes counted in a primary election was rejected by the Alabama Republican Party on Saturday, reported AL.com

Votes for Bonner will not be counted in the election after the party voted not to have his votes certified because of discriminatory comments he made on social media.

During the June 5th primary he won 49.7 percent of the vote. Despite this, Republican state Chairwoman Terry Lathan called his comments "egregious."

The party moved forward with eighty-four percent of the committee members voted for the decision. Instead, Bonner said he would run as a write-in candidate in Alabama Senate District 6.
