Four killed -- including suspect -- after gunman opens fire inside downtown Cincinnati bank

Four people were killed in downtown Cincinnati after a gunman opened fire in a bank at Fountain Square.

The gunman entered Fifth Third bank around 9 a.m. through a loading dock and opened fire in the lobby, according to police chief Eliot Isaac.

A witness said a woman walked into the bank wearing headphones, and she did not hear warnings not to enter.

"She walked in the door and he shot her," Leonard Cain told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Three people were killed by the gunman, Isaac said, and at least two other victims were reportedly hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

Officers quickly responded to the shooting and engaged in a short gunfight with the suspect, who was killed.

Police have not yet determined whether he was killed by officers or by a self-inflicted gunshot.

The incident remains under investigation, and the gunman has not been identified.
