With the unfolding and mourning of a violent week in America, President Donald Trump ripped a page out of his playbook to distract America.

On Tuesday, CNN's Jake Tapper slammed the president for his assertion that he can end birthright citizenship.

During an interview with Axios, Trump claimed he could end birthright citizenship with an executive order.

"We're the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits," Trump said. "You can definitely do it with an Act of Congress. But now they're saying I can do it just with an executive order."

Tapper claimed that Trump's claim was just a "stunt to stir up his base" yet again.
