MSNBC and CNN right wing political commentator Hugh Hewitt is under fire for making an offensive “joke” about two popular Democrats. On the same day many transgender people are hurting in the wake of the Supreme Court allowing President Donald Trump to ban them from the U.S. Military, Hewitt turned the word transgender into a verb, and a slur.
Hewitt attacked former Vice President of the United States Joe Biden and newly-sworn-in U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday during his radio show, “The Hugh Hewitt Show.”
“I would love to talk to her,” he continued. “Any — just a long extended conversation where the word salad doesn’t hold up. It wilts in the heat,” he said, attacking, and falsely suggesting she cannot deliver salient thoughts.
“Not hardball, just keep talking. She’s just wonderful. She’s — she’s — she’s my favorite person in America,” he said, all the while mocking the Democratic Member of Congress who will sit on two powerful House committees.
“Joe Biden has actually gone through the time machine and transgendered into Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” Hewitt then said. “This was Joe Biden — she’s going to fill the Biden gap. The Biden gap concerned me. Some day Joe will leave the public stage and we will not have people who will say outlandish things. But now the Biden gap is filled.”
Hewitt offered a half-hearted apology via Twitter Tuesday evening, linking to the Media Matters report.
Apologies. Bad word choice on a sensitive subject. https://t.co/xc2wmICeVK

The Hollywood Reporter’s Jeremy Barr reports MSNBC is refusing to comment.
MSNBC PR is declining comment on contributor (and former show host) Hugh Hewitt saying on his outside radio show today that “Joe Biden has actually gone through the time machine and transgendered into Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.”

On social media there was palpable outrage, directed both at Hewitt and MSNBC, where he remains a paid commentator.

MSNBC's Hugh Hewitt: "Joe Biden has actually gone through the time machine and transgendered into Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@aoc)."
And remember. Hewitt is often pointed to as example of a sensible intellectual moderate conservative. Uh-huh.https://t.co/89uzmBs08Q

This dumb comment aside, can we all agree that Hewitt is just a crappy commentator? He has surprisingly little insight into anything happening today, remarkably poor political instincts, and doesn’t really function as anything more than filler. https://t.co/hdIlchXhuG

More like bad “thought” choice.

You are a total fool, and @MSNBC if you continue to bring him on as a contibuter you are making just as foolish of a mistake. Giving hate filled people a platform is how we wound up with a deadly big mac eating tumor in the whitehouse.

MSNBC needs to fire @hughhewitt who is a right wing sycophant idiot
— PRGOLFER (@jubess1) January 23, 2019
Time to cancel Hugh Hewitt's contract, he is a useless hack.

Dear @hughhewitt what is wrong with you? So you insult public figures and the transgender community. So in one sentence you disrespect a former VP, a woman and a group. Just go away. @msnbc #BeBest is this the #Trumpeffect?
— Margot Durkin (@mrsdurkinmuses) January 23, 2019
You said the wrong “word?” What about the awful sentiment you expressed? There’s nothing wrong with being transgender. @MSNBC please get this guy off the air.

CNN’s Cuomo obliterates GOP congressman who raided SCIF in impeachment hearing
On Wednesday's edition of CNN's "Cuomo Prime Time," Chris Cuomo brought on Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH), one of the Republicans who participated in the raid on the secure room where the Intelligence Committee was conducting impeachment hearings. And Johnson's attempt to defend his behavior did not go well.
"Congressman, did you bring a phone in there?" asked Cuomo.
"We headed down that hallway to demand to be able to do our job. That's what we were there for," said Johnson. "There is no classified information being discussed in that room. It is a classified facility, if classified is being discussed, but there was no classified information being discussed there ... You know, a Republican speaker gave that due process and fairness to President Clinton. A Democrat speaker gave that fairness and due process to Richard Nixon. So what do they have to hide, Chris?"
Intel Committee has ‘recent evidence’ Ukraine witnesses are working together to ‘coordinate’ their stories
House investigators have "recent evidence" of witnesses working to coordinate their testimony before Congress, a Democratic congressman revealed on MSNBC on Wednesday.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who sits on the Intelligence and Judicial committees, was interviewed by MSNBC Chris Hayes.
"Final question, what is the timeline here?" Hayes asked. "There is some transparency argument that at some point this can’t be behind closed doors, the American people, all of us, Republicans, Democrats, citizens and journalists have to hear what’s happening."
"You’re absolutely right and there will be a public phase," Swalwell replied.
Rudy Giuliani is looking for a lawyer — after saying he didn’t need one: report
On Wednesday, CNN reported that President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani is looking for a defense attorney to represent him.
This report comes after Giuliani said last week that he would not seek legal representation unless he believed he needed it.
Giuliani is currently under criminal investigation for the scheme he apparently helped facilitate in the Ukraine, where Trump withheld military aid in the fight against Russia while demanding their leaders investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and the Democratic National Committee.
