The Senate Intelligence Committee has demanded an update on an intelligence report regarding foreign midterm election interference from Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats.

The Daily Beast reported Friday that Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM), a member of the committee, sent a letter on the panel's behalf to Coats asking for the entire classified report director's agency compiled on threats to the 2018 midterms.

"They also asked that Coats provide them an after-action report produced by the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security assessing any foreign meddling that occurred and how the government handled it," the Beast's Betsy Woodruff wrote.

The Senate panel, Woodruff noted, called the reports “an important matter of national security.”
