On Tuesday, a Virginia woman admitted that she fabricated parts of a hate crime that landed an Egyptian man in jail, according to WTAP-TV.

The woman claimed that the alleged suspect Mohamed Fathy Hussein Zayan, 54, tried to abduct her child at the mall. The woman's name has not been released.

She claimed that Zayan "grabbed the child by the hair and attempted to pull her away," and then the little girl "dropped to the floor with the male still pulling her away," according to the report. The woman also pulled a gun on him, and it is unclear if she will face any charges.

However, the woman later told investigators that it could have been a "cultural misunderstanding."

Zayan was "arraigned at the Cabell County Courthouse late Monday night. As mentioned, most charges against Zayan are expected to be dropped," the report said.

However, he still might face battery charges. His bond was set at $200,000.
