Trump demanded military parade without wounded vets because 'it doesn’t look good for me': new book

According to yet another book about Donald Trump's four years in office, the former president was reportedly enamored with the idea of a massive military parade, but then added he didn't want to see any wounded veterans participating.
In an excerpt from “The Divider: Trump in the White House,” by Peter Baker and Susan Glasser, the New York Times noted a confrontation the former president had with his chief of staff.
According to the book, the former president was impressed after observing the Bastille Day parade in Paris and suggested to then-White House chief of staff John Kelly -- a retired U.S. Marine Corps general -- that he wanted a similar display of military force.
Baker and Glasser wrote that, after returning from his 2017 Paris trip, Trump told Kelly to see about duplicating the parade but added, "Look, I don’t want any wounded guys in the parade. This doesn’t look good for me.”
“Kelly could not believe what he was hearing,” the book reports. “‘Those are the heroes,’ he told Trump. ‘In our society, there’s only one group of people who are more heroic than they are — and they are buried over in Arlington.’”
Trump reportedly repeated, “I don’t want them. It doesn’t look good for me.”

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough cracked up at reports that Donald Trump was unaware that Adolf Hitler's generals plotted to assassinate him.
New York Times reporter Peter Baker revealed in a New Yorker piece written with his wife Susan Glasser that Trump expected U.S. generals to extend personal loyalty to him, the way he believed Nazi generals had to Hitler, and he told "Morning Joe" that those military officials had to explain World War II history to the former president.
"He viewed them as people who should be loyal to him in a personal way, which then went against the grain for the professionalized military, which doesn't see their role as being political actors," Baker said. "They don't want to be politicized. You had this war for four years, long before Jan. 6, between a commander in chief and the generals who thought that he was a danger to the country."
"At one point, he was so frustrated the generals weren't loyal enough to him, he asked them why they weren't like the German generals in World War II, which astonished John Kelly, a retired four-star general and then his chief of staff," Baker added. "He said, 'You know they tried to kill Hitler, right?'"

Scarborough cackled in astonishment at the tale, and thanked God that those generals pushed back against Trump's corruption.
"It's crazy," Scarborough said. "The part where they had to explain, 'Well, you know the German generals did try to kill Hitler.' It's all very frightening -- 'Why can't you be like the German generals? Which ones? The ones in World War II' -- is horrifying, and shows that, well, when I call him a fascist, maybe I'm on to something."

According to NewsOne, the public is demanding answers after a viral video showed a Mississippi Highway Patrol officer beating a handcuffed Black man on the side of the road.
The video, also reported by WJTV, shows the assault by the unidentified officer on Eugene Lewis of McComb, which is now being looked into by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
"The video runs a little more than five minutes. Packer and Darius Lewis, Eugene’s brothers, can be heard in the background narrating the officer’s actions and exchanging words from time to time. From the video, the two stay back away from the officer and their brother, but they refuse to budge," said the report.
"Despite having handcuffed Eugene, the officer can be seen pulling him down to the ground by his neck and then tossing him into the grass on the side of the road and then jumping on him. All three brothers were arrested, according to local news," said the report. "A statement from McComb’s mayor confirmed the incident involved a Mississippi Highway Patrol."

McComb Mayor Quordiniah Lockley told WJTV that she was disturbed by the video and she said it warranted an investigation.
“This is alarming that something like this would happen within the city limits of McComb,” Lockley said.
This comes after a series of nationally publicized police brutality incidents against Black men this summer.
Last month in Akron, Ohio, police have launched an investigation into an officer who was caught on video at a police brutality protest, punching a Black man in the head while other officers held his arms. Just a few weeks after that, police in Oakland, Tennessee are accused of an "animalistic" assault of a Black man with batons and tasers in his own home after he allegedly ran a stop sign and didn't pull over for them.
