'Joke's on him': Former top George Santos aide nails him for plan 'to be a big name'

The former communications director for Rep. George Santos (R-NY) said in an interview that one of his first proposals to her was that he wanted to make a big splash after being elected and garner massive media exposure.
She added that he got his wish – just not the way he obviously intended.
Speaking with Politico's New York Playbook, Nasya Woomer – who previously worked for former Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) – said she quit in May after her boss was arrested and charged with, among other things, wire fraud and money laundering. She made a point of publishing her resignation letter that stated, "Unfortunately, you never took one point of professional advice given."
Asked about her tenure working for the GOP lawmaker, who also faces possible expulsion from the House, she noted his penchant for wanting to get his name in the news once he was elected.
"When Woomer interviewed for the comms job with Santos in early December, he told her he wanted to be a big name in the media," Politico reported, with Woomer quipping, "Joke’s on him.”
She added, "I felt like he was no longer becoming a member of Congress, but rather turning into a celebrity. Celebrities are not in the business of public service, but rather all about serving themselves,” before noting that he was displeased with her press releases including one promoting his backing of a bill that would have the AR-15 made the national gun of America.
As she recalled, "It felt like it was more of a clickbait situation. I was just very disappointed that he signed on for a bill that he did not have too much knowledge on.”
