NC elections board reveals GOP funders likely tried to 'obstruct' stolen election investigation

The North Carolina Board of Elections on Monday revealed that its investigation into the 2018 District 9 congressional election had been met with obstruction by people who funded the ballot fraud that was allegedly committed by supporters of Republican candidate Mark Harris.

In a hearing on Monday, State Board of Elections Director Kim Strach said that the investigation into the District 9 election has found a "coordinated, unlawful and substantially resourced absentee ballot operation."

McCrae Dowless, a political consultant for Harris, came under suspicion after his candidate appeared to defeat Democrat Dan McCready by just over 900 votes. The elections board presented evidence on Monday that the number of tainted ballots appeared to be greater than the margin of Harris' victory.

The investigators also said that there had been obstruction in the case, suggesting that they were not able to interview two GOP donors who are thought to have funded Dowless' operation.
