NJ cops are still arresting people for weed -- and police say they won’t stop until legal marijuana is official

The college student knew she wasn’t going to make the light. The 19-year-old freshman tried anyway, gunning the engine Nov. 17 to beat a traffic signal in front of the Mennen Sports Arena. A Morris County Park Police officer was right there waiting, watching from the arena’s parking lot in Morris Township. He pulled her over and almost instantly said the car smelled like marijuana, according to the student, who did not wish to be identified because her case is still pending.
