The campaign of acting House Majority Leader Roy Blunt has registered potential domain names for groups hostile to the Republican, according to today's edition of Roll Call.
According to domain-registration site GoDaddy.com, stoproyblunt.com and roybluntsux.com were registered, on Sept. 20, 2004, by Friends of Roy Blunt, the acting House majority leader's campaign organization, based in Springfield, Mo. Roybluntsucks.com takes you directly to Blunt's campaign page.
It's a shrewd move on the part of Blunt's inner circle, given the often nasty nature of modern campaigning. Blunt spokeswoman Burson Taylor said they first started the practice before the last election cycle. "It's certainly a preemptive strike," she said. "We wouldn't want anybody else to own them."
Which leaves us wondering what the staffs of Reps. John Boehner (R-Ohio) and John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), Blunt's opponents in the race for majority leader, are waiting for. Johnboehnersucks.com and johnshadeggsucks.com are still free.
