Stuttgart- VfB Stuttgart have landed goalkeeper Raphael Schaefer from next season onwards while the German Bundesliga club's Denmark striker Jon Dahl Tomasson appears Spain-bound within the next days. News reports in Spain and Denmark on Wednesday linked Tomasson with a swift move to Villarreal.

Schaefer, 27, joins Stuttgart in summer from Bundesliga rivals Nuremberg for a transfer fee estimated at 2 million euros (2.6 million dollars), taking the place of departing Timo Hildebrand. The agreement was announced by Nuremberg on Wednesday.

Tomasson, meanwhile, appears set for immediate departure. He came to Stuttgart in 2005 on a free transfer f4rom AC Milan but is out of favour at the club now.

The Danish Ekstra Bladet daily quoted Tomasson's manager Bayram Tutumlu on Wednesday as saying that the deal with Villarreal could be finalized "within the next few days."

Madrid sports daily AS said that Tomasson has agreed to terms with Villarreal, who are placed 11th in the league, and that the move is to be on loan.

AS said that Stuttgart's approval was still required, but a Stuttgart spokesman said on Wednesday that they are yet to be approached by another club in connection with Tomasson.
