Video: Gonzales: 'I will not resign'
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales declared this morning that he will not resign from his post in the Bush administration. The remarks were delivered at a press conference after Gonzales met privately with various US Attorneys.
"I'm not going to resign, I'm going to stay focused on protecting our kids," Gonzales said, and then pointed to the record of his Justice Department as evidence for why he should keep his job.
Gonzales also refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing on the part of his agency or the Bush administration.
"No US Attorney was fired for improper reasons, and that's the message that I'm going to deliver to the United States Congress," he added.
