Democratic debate highlights: Clinton, Obama bash each other as Kucinich seeks impeachment
The following video is from CNN's DEMOCRATIC DEBATE LAS VEGAS, broadcast on November 15, 2007.
Obama and Clinton mix it up early:
"Let's talk about health care right now," said Obama. "The fact of the matter is that I do provide universal health care. The only difference between Sen. Clinton's health care plan and mine is she thinks the problem for people without health care is nobody has it mandated, forced them to get health care...the problem is they can't afford it."
"I cannot let that go unanswered," Clinton fired back. "Sen. Obama's health plan does not cover everyone...he does not mandate the kind of coverage that I do."
Candidates weigh in on Pakistan, Richardson states human rights are more important than security:
"What happened with our Pakistan policy was we got our principles wrong. We forgot our principles," said Richardson. "We said, 'You know, Musharraf, security is more important that human rights.' If I'm president, it's the other way around."
Dennis Kucinich on the Patriot Act and impeachment:
"You've seen here tonight people who voted for the war, voted to the fund the war, now they have a different position," said Kucinich. "People who voted for the Patriot Act, now they have a different position...just imagine what it will be like to have a President of the United States who is right the first time."
He repeated his previous calls for the impeachment of the president and vice president. "It's called impeachment," he said. "And you don't wait. You do it now."
