Off-duty NJ cop charged in DWI crash pleads guilty — and avoids jail time

A Paterson police officer who pleaded guilty Thursday to DWI for a crash that left one person injured will enter a pre-trial intervention program to avoid serving jail time, authorities said Friday. Noel Ramos, 27, of Garfield, was arrested March 24 by detectives investigating a Feb. 13 crash on Lexington Avenue in Clifton, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes. Police who responded to the crash just before 12:30 a.m. found Ramos’ 2019 Dodge Challenger in the middle of the road, officials said.
