On Monday, The Daily Beast reported that Albert Watkins, the attorney who represented convicted Capitol rioter and so-called "QAnon Shaman" Jacob Chansley, is pushing back against the claim of the lawyer who initially represented Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse that he will be taking over Chansley's case.

"Watkins spoke out after John Pierce, the MAGA-sympathizing anti-vaxxer attorney, claimed earlier in the day that he would be representing Chansley, the infamous QAnon Shaman, from this point forward," reported A.J. MacDougall. "'Mr. Chansley is no longer represented, for any purpose, by attorney Albert Watkins,' Pierce wrote."

However, according to the report, "After seeing Pierce's announcement, 'Watkins personally spoke with Mr. Chansley who confirmed he did not personally authorize Mr. Pierce to represent him,' Watkins said. He noted pointedly that Chansley reaffirmed him as his lawyer. Watkins said he had reached out to Pierce but that 'no response... has been forthcoming.'"

Pierce was fired as Rittenhouse's attorney and replaced with a new legal team, who went on to win an acquittal for Rittenhouse in the case in which he fatally shot two people and injured a third during the protests against the Jacob Blake shooting. Rittenhouse's attorneys successfully argued that he acted in lawful self-defense.

Chansley, who became famous for storming the Capitol in war paint and horns, was sentenced to 41 months in prison, with the judge citing the need to make an example of his efforts to attack democracy.
