CNN conservative Scott Jennings' decision to claim Americans are very pleased with the direction the country has taken now that Donald Trump is firmly ensconced in the Oval Office led a Democratic lawmaker to offer an invitation to hear what voters really think.
During the concluding panel discussion on CNN's "State of the Union" with host Dana Bash, the controversial Jennings, who went from tepid on Trump to a full-fledged supporter after he received the 20204 GOP presidential nomination, defended the dismantling of the government.
"If I just may respond to something you said about the bureaucracy," he told CNN analyst Xochitl Hinojosa. "There seems to be, when Republicans are president, that this idea that the bureaucracy and the government should not be responsive to the political leadership of the executive branch. That is totally false."

"It has nothing to do with a loyalty test, but it does have to do with whether or not the unelected bureaucracy is responsive to the political oversight of the government," he added. "Democrats right now do not seem to believe that the president should be able to be the president."
That led Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) to jump in with, "You should come to my town halls."
He elaborated, "You should come and talk to some of these federal workers, many of them are veterans, in fact, but many of them are very competent. What we're doing is we're prioritizing loyalty over competence."
