'The man whispering in Trump's ear': CNN's Borger explains why Jeffrey Clark's Capitol riot testimony is crucial
On Friday's edition of CNN's "The Situation Room," political analyst Gloria Borger weighed in on former Trump DOJ official Jeffrey Clark testifying to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack.
"Clark is set to be, as I pointed out, the first Trump administration official to comply with a subpoena, with a subpoena for an interview with the select committee," said anchor Wolf Blitzer. "Could this change, potentially, the trajectory of this investigation?"
"I think... that he is a very important witness, no matter how they get his information, quite honestly," said Borger. "The Senate Judiciary Committee, which issued a 400-page report, said that he tried to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power, that he was the man whispering in Donald Trump's ear, yes, we can figure out a way to get this election overturned."
She then detailed some of the actions Clark took during his efforts to keep Trump in the White House.
"He is the person communicating with folks in Georgia, saying that they need to, you know, recount votes," she said. "You know, he was a person inside the Justice Department telling other attorneys, okay, you know, we need to announce publicly that we are investigating fraud because we believe there is a real possibility that there was widespread fraud. As you know, [former Attorney General William] Barr said there wasn't, and the people sitting with him and the president in a meeting in January ... said, we're not going to do this, and if you guys decide to go ahead with your plan, we're leaving. So he is central."

Fight breaks out in Florida school after video shows white students spewing racial slurs and wearing KKK-style sheet
Parents at a Florida high school this week were outraged after a video started circulating on social media platform Snap Chat showing two white students spewing racial slurs while one of them wore a KKK-style white sheet.
News4Jax reports that video of the two white students had been filmed over the summer, but was uploaded this week and sent over Snap Chat to several of the Black students who attend the Yulee High School in Nassau County.
The school said that the video "resulted in a physical altercation involving several students" and added that "disciplinary actions consistent with the district's code of conduct have been given to students involved in the altercation and in sending the Snap Chat video."
One parent, who asked not to be identified, told News4Jax that they were sickened by the video and they criticized the school for suspending Black students who apparently took part in the altercation.
"It's disgusting," they said. "The fact that this kid that made this vile, nasty, distasteful video is still walking around campus while you have kids who confronted him to defend themselves are sitting at home is two-thirds of the problem."
Parent Melissa Ricks, whose child was one of those suspended, told News4Jax that "this is an issue of outward racism in our school that's not being brought awareness to."

‘I’ll answer it for you’: Jen Psaki destroys Peter Doocy – and says Biden doesn't need a ‘feckless’ border wall
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Friday was forced to verbally wallop Peter Doocy after the combative, argumentative, and fear-mongering Fox News correspondent tried to pick a fight over President Joe Biden having not recently visited the southern border.
When all was said and done Psaki reminded Doocy that when he was president Donald Trump "went to the border, at least once, maybe more," she told him. "How did that immigration policy result Peter? That immigration policy resulted in separating kids from their parents, building a border wall that's feckless, and that cost billions of dollars for taxpayers."
"The President said last night," Doocy began his attack, referring to President Biden's remarks at a CNN town hall Thursday night, "why did President Biden say he has been to the border?"
"Well, Peter," Psaki replied, explaining that President Biden drove "through the border when he was on the campaign trail in 2008, and he's certainly familiar with the fact and it stuck with him with the fact that in El Paso, the border goes right through the center of town, but what the most important thing everyone should know and understand is that the President has worked on these issues throughout his entire career, and is well-versed in every aspect of our immigration system including the border that includes when he was vice president, and he went to Mexico and Central America ten times to address border issues and talk about what we can do to reduce the number of migrants who were coming to the border."
And she added that Biden "does not need a visit to the border to know what a mess was left by the last administration, that's his view."
Doocy, still obsessed over what he determined is President Biden's required presence at the southern border, pressed back hard.
"Does that count as a visit? He said, 'I've been there before,' you're saying he drove by for a few minutes, does that count?" Doocy demanded.
"What is the root cause? Where are people coming from when they're coming to the border Peter?" Psaki, losing patience, asked.
"I'm asking you a question because I think people should understand the context," Psaki continued, receiving no actual response.
"Okay, I'll answer it for you," she said, giving up. "People come from Central America and Mexico, to go to the border. The President has been to those countries ten times to talk about border issues," she informed Doocy. "There is a focus right now on a photo op. The President does not believe a photo op is the same as solutions that may be a difference he has with Republicans."
