On Wednesday, the Internet railed against Texas politicians for seeking to make getting an abortions equivalent to a homicide.
A bill introduced by Texas state Rep. Tony Tinderholt (R) would allow women to be penalized to the death penalty for having an abortion without exception.
“I think it’s important to remember that if a drunk driver kills a pregnant woman, they get charged twice. If you murder a pregnant woman, you get charged twice. So I’m not specifically criminalizing women. What I’m doing is equalizing the law,” Tinderholt said during his hearing.
However, users on Twitter said that law was "ridiculous" and that it went "overboard."
