‘This forum is a joke’: Matt Lauer ripped online for ‘offensive’ treatment of Clinton
Today Show host Matt Lauer was pilloried on social media on Wednesday night for his line of questioning toward former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during an NBC event hosted by a veterans group.
As Reuters reported, despite the “Commander-in-Chief Forum” being geared toward veterans’ issues, Lauer opened the show by asking Clinton about her emails.

Clinton supporters online accused Lauer of not only revisiting questions that weren’t germane to the forum, but repeatedly interrupting her while doing so, as seen below:

30 minutes is just not enough time for #CommanderInChiefForum particularly when Matt Lauer wastes 12 minutes on emails.

Matt Lauer, you have just surrendered your credentials as a legitimate journalist. Your bias was palpable and offensive. Shame.

.@MLauer spent 10 min on emails, something that’s been beaten to death, hoping for some gotcha scoop. He spent rest of time cutting her off.

Matt Lauer says they’re gonna keep it on policy, then asks Hillary how she thinks vets FEEL about her.

Nice thing about Lauer botching this debate so badly is we have a poster child for “Failed Journalism 2016.”

Lauer’s handling of Republican Donald Trump, however, drew a different reaction:

RT paigelav: Matt Lauer wouldn’t lay off Clinton for her emails. He asked Trump 1 question about Iraq War — Trump lied, then Lauer moved o…
