19-year-old male with AR-style rifle taken into custody for fatal shooting at California synagogue

Authorities in California report that the suspect taken into custody for the fatal shooting in Poway is a 19-year-old male.

The disclosure was made at the second press briefing on the shooting, featuring the San Diego Sheriff's Department, San Diego Police Department and FBI.

Authorities said that the arresting police officer spotted a rifle on the front seat of the suspect's car during the arrest.

Earlier, Mayor Steve Vaus said there was one fatality and that the shooting was a hate crime.
