'A complete dumpster fire': South Carolina Republicans turn on each over driving out 'RINOs'

While Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has made his peace with Donald Trump and become one of his biggest and most vocal supporters, the leadership of South Carolina's Republican Party is ripping into each other over accusations about who is a Republican In Name Only (RINO).

According to a report from the Sun News, the South Carolina Republican Party and the Horry County Republican Party are at each other's throats with a GOP conference in Myrtle Beach — called "First in the South" — at the center of the spat.

With speakers like Florida Sen. Rick Scott, former Secretary of Energy Rick Perry and former President Donald Trump's chief of staff Reince Priebus already booked, the state party shut out the Myrtle Beach leadership which has rankled some Republicans.

According to Tracy "Beanz" Diaz of the Horry County GOP, "party members have sought to work with the state officials to host and staff the event, but have been brushed aside. Diaz has said she views the move as a rejection of the local party, and evidence the state party doesn't like or care about Republicans along the Grand Strand."

On Telegram Diaz wrote, "Our county party leadership has been reaching out to the SCGOP leadership to assist them with this event for the past several months. They've completely ignored our requests. We wanted to come together in the spirit of unity. So, you've got an SCGOP event, in OUR COUNTY, and the leadership of the SCGOP has decided the 'unwashed' can't be involved with it."

According to the report, the local GOP has now scheduled a competing event (the "I Pledge Allegiance" gathering) on Oct 29th that will feature pro-Donald Trump gadflys Diamond and Silk who have seen their profile diminish now that Trump is out of office.

The report goes on to note that the splintering of the South Carolina GOP is tied to turning on each other over who is now considered a "RINO."

'The activists decried current Republican leadership, both in the party and among the ranks of elected officials as RINOs, or 'Republicans In Name Only.' The activists claimed that current leaders weren't listening to the base of voters that supported them, and were backing ideas and policies that ran against conservative values," the Sun Times is reporting.

Last week Diaz incensed the GOP leadership by boasting at a pro-Trump rally in Florida, "We took over the Republican Party in South Carolina, I don't know if you guys know that. We kicked out the RINO b*tches."

This follows comments by SCGOP Chairman Drew McKissick who complained about the takeover of the Horry County Republicans by extreme elements within the party, with McKissick stating, "It will fall into a state of disrepair, become a complete dumpster fire and essentially be a leper colony for the next year and a half."
