'A distorted view of the world': Pope Francis bashes world leaders making 'dangerous alliances' at G20

In an interview with Italian newspaper La Repubblica,  Pope Francis harshly criticized the leaders attending the G20 summit saying they have a "distorted view of the world," that does not consider the "the poor and the weak."

According to the Christian News Service, the Pope's conversation with reporter Eugenio Scalfari focused on the conference that was recently held in Hamburg.

“Last Thursday, I got a call from Pope Francis,” Scalfari reported. “It was about noon, and I was at the newspaper when my phone rang.”

According to Scalfari, the Pope summoned him to the Vatican to address the g20.

“Pope Francis told me to be very concerned about the meeting of the G20.” Scalfari wrote, adding the Pope told him, "I am afraid there are very dangerous alliances between powers who have a distorted view of the world: America and Russia, China and North Korea, Russia and Assad in the war in Syria."

"The danger concerns immigration,” the Pope continued. “Our main and unfortunately growing problem in the world today is that of the poor, the weak, the excluded, which includes migrants. This is why the G20 worries me: It mainly hits immigrants."

The Pope also called for Europe to take on a "federal structure" to deal with the problems facing the countries.
