A Jehovah's Witness church is allowing a convicted pedophile to work with children again

A former Jehovah's Witnesses elder who was convicted of pedophilia just last year is being allowed to work with children right now by his family's church in Australia.

According to Australian publication The Age, Doreen-based roofing plumber Richard Hill was convicted in 2015 of molesting his six-year-old female cousin all the way back in 1980, when he was just 20 years old.

Despite this, the 55-year-old Hill this week was cleared by his family's church in Melbourne to work with children again by proselytizing door-to-door with them.

Melissa Buchanan, who was Hill's victim, told The Age that she cannot believe any responsible church would allow Hill to work with children, no matter how much supervision he's being subjected to.

"He could very easily do to others what he did to me," she said. "I don't know how they can have a convicted pedophile knocking on doors speaking about religion. I just want him to know that I will never forget."

Hill maintains that he is innocent, despite the fact that he decided to drop an appeal of his conviction. He remains on an official sex offenders' list and was fined following his conviction last year.
