The former CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch is mentally incompetent to stand trial for allegations he ran a sex-trafficking ring, argued his attorneys, according to The Daily Beast.
According to newly unsealed court documents from Long Island "defense lawyers for Michael Jeffries, 80, said that a neuropsychologist concluded, following an examination, that he likely has dementia with behavioral disturbance, Alzheimer’s disease, and Lewy body dementia. In a joint letter, the defense lawyers and prosecutors have asked for a competency hearing," reported Kevin Fallon.
Jeffries has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, which include that he lured men to sex parties with fake promises of modeling jobs, plied them with alcohol and drugs, and directed them “to wear costumes, use sex toys, and endure painful erection-inducing penile injections." He is currently out on $10 million bond.
Jeffries' partner, Briton Matthew Smith, has also been charged in the case and pleaded not guilty.

It's one of many shocking sex crime cases brought against rich and powerful figures in recent months, with another trafficking case set to proceed against music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs.
It also comes as resurfaced allegations of a sex trafficking operation, described in new detail by a freshly released House Ethics Committee report, sank former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) in his nomination to be President-elect Donald Trump's attorney general, although he continues to deny all the claims against him.
