'Use the money to go to law school': Critics stunned by Alina Habba's Trump legal fees

"What in the hell?!!"

That was one of many responses to reports that Donald Trump lawyer Alina Habba has raked in more than $2.5 million in legal fees between February 2022 and June last year — and that does not include what she has billed in the past six months.

According to multiple reports based upon FEC filings, cited by former Florida attorney general candidate Daniel Uhlfelder, the Save America and Make America Great Again PACs have been major players in paying Habba's New Jersey-based law firm for "legal consulting." The records show the firm was paid $2,528,408.06.

After posting the information with links on X, critics — and there are many — of Trump's lead attorney in the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial marveled at how she has prospered considering her performance has not only been baffling, but also widely ridiculed. Judge Lewis Kaplan has repeatedly had to explain basic rules of law and courtroom procedure to her.

Needless to say, X users had a few things to say about what Donald Trump is getting for his money, with one frequent Trump critic estimating, "That works out to be almost a dollar for every mistake she's made for him."

"Trump has LOST every case that Alina Habba has worked on. What a great return on investment," wrote James SNYC, with another critic helpfully adding, "Maybe she can use the money to go to law school."

@StrictlyChristo wrote, "2.5 million for 'Ally McFail' seems a bit steep," with @Maestro4Maestro adding, "Habba is worth every penny to E. Jean Carroll."

"Do the donors to those PACs know their money went to legal fees or were they defrauded?" asked @stanwiz7, to which @l78lancer replied, "If so, they should have kept their receipts and demanded a refund."

"The MAGA cult must be so proud to send their money to pay for the train wreck that is Alina Habba. Because although Trump is a self-proclaimed billionaire, they believe he needs their money to pay for his legal defense," wrote @DHartung13.

Citing Habba's previous legal experience, @cathyob1 wrote, "Nice work for a parking garage attorney."

Pointing to Habba's previous comments about preferring to be "pretty" because she can fake being "smart," @thatpoorman2 applauded her initiative, by commenting, "That’s good pay to fake being smart."
